How to export sales with times for hourly forecasts

Hourly forecasts need the time of each sale. Export the detailed sales or transactions report from your till, not the daily summary.

  1. In your till or shop system, open the sales or transactions report (not the daily or product summary).
  2. Choose the detailed version with one row per sale or per item sold. It's often called Detail, Transactions or Raw data.
  3. Pick a period of at least 2 weeks; 2 to 3 months works best.
  4. Export it as Excel or CSV and upload it in New forecast. Then choose Forecast by: Hour.

The file needs the time of each sale: either a date and time together (14/03/2025 12:35) or a Date column and a Time column (14/03/2025 and 12:35, or 12:35 PM). We join a separate Date and Time, or an Hour column, for you.

Square: Reports, then Item sales, then Export and choose the detailed CSV. It has a Date and a Time column for every item sold.

Zettle: in Reports, export the raw data Excel, which lists each sale with its time.

SumUp, Lightspeed and other tills: look for the transactions or sales report with one row per sale. Summary reports add up whole days and have no times.

Shopify and other online shops: the orders export has the date and time each order was created.

Files with one row per sale grow quickly: if yours is larger than your plan allows, export a shorter period or a report per product per hour.
